Thickness ISO 2178The magnetic flux density close to a magnetic field source (permanent magnet or electromagnet) depends on the distance to a magnetizable base metal. This phenomenon is used to determine the thickness of a non-magnetic coating applied to the metal panel in microns (µ). If cured film thickness is proper, then the panel can be used for physical and chemical tests.
-
Gloss ISO 2813Gloss is measured by directing a constant intensity light beam, at a fixed angle, on to the test surface and then monitoring the amount of reflected light from the same angle. This specular reflectance is measured using a glossmeter.
-
Impact Resistance ISO 6272-1This is a method for evaluating the resistance of a dry film coating to cracking or peeling from a substrate when it is subjected to a deformation caused by a falling weight, with a 20-mm-diameter spherical indenter, dropped under standard conditions.
-
Laser Particle Size Distribution ISO 8130-13This is a method for determining the particle distribution of powder particles in powder form by laser assisted device after the grinding process. The laser beam measures the size of each grain size, and values such as the largest grain size and the average grain size are measured.
-
Color ISO 7724-2This is a method for determining the difference between the color coordinate and the reference color coordinate of the coated surface at the appropriate thickness. With the color measuring device, the reference panel and the coated panel are measured in color coordinates and delta differences are determined.
-
Flow Rate ISO 8130-5The method specified reflects commercial practice in powder spraying. Its principle is placing, under draught-free conditions, a specified quantity of coating powder in a vessel and fluidizing it with clean dry air under standard conditions of atmospheric temperature and pressure. The height of the powder during and after fluidization is measured and the rate at which the fluidized powder flows through a specified orifice is then determined. The measurements are used to calculate the fluidization factor and the powder flow rate (flow factor) which together define the transport and spraying characteristics of the powder.
-
Cross-Cut ISO 2409This is a test method for assessing the resistance of coating to separation from substrates when a right-angle lattice pattern is cut into the coating, penetrating through the substrate.
-
Conical Bending ISO 6860This is an empirical test procedure for assessing the resistance of a coating of paint, varnish or related product to cracking and/or detachment from a metal substrate when subjected to bending around a conical mandrel under standard conditions.
-
Cupping ISO 1520This is an empirical test procedure for assessing the resistance of a coating of paint, varnish or related product to cracking and/or detachment from a metal substrate when subjected to gradual deformation by indentation under standard conditions.
-
Pencil Hardness ASTM D3363This test method covers a procedure for rapid, inexpensive determination of the film hardness of an organic coating on a substrate in terms of drawing leads or pencil leads of known hardness.
-
Buchholz Hardness ISO 2815This is a method for carrying out an indentation test on a single coating or multicoat system of paint, varnish or related product, using a Buchholz indentor. The length of the indentation produced is indicative of the residual deformation of the coating.

Surface AppearanceThe fully cured and coated surface of the appropriate film thickness is controlled by eye. Product is approved if no surface defetcs are detected suc as bits, craters, hazes, orange peel, etc.
